Ethical and Environmental Policy
Aims
Simply Delightful (the Company) aims to conduct all of its business dealings in a fair and just way, promoting the wellbeing of people and communities and minimising negative impacts on the environment.
Simply Delightful recognises that behaviour unacceptable in wider society should not be acceptable in business. We wish to develop with and sustain with all our customers, suppliers and employees and other stakeholders a relationship that represents best practice and reflects our concerns and those of the wider community.
Principles
- Simply Delightful seeks to demonstrate ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.
- Simply Delightful encourages democratic participation and seeks to adjust to best practice as our own practices evolve.
Responsibility
Simply Delightful visits all external suppliers and manufacturers business premises and factories to ensure working conditions etc are acceptable and do not infringe any of the rights of the external suppliers and manufacturers workers, both in the Czech Republic and also in China.
Environment
Simply Delightful is committed, where practical and within the resources available, to following environmental best practice in all of its activities. Specifically Simply Delightful is committed to:
- Using recycled paper and stationary
- Developing systems which significantly reduce paper usage
- Promoting the use of public transport by it's employees and directors
- Recycling waste products such as paper, cardboard, toner cartridges
- Improving energy efficiency in the work place
- Encouraging staff to consider the environment in all aspects of their work
Purchasing
Simply Delightful is concerned that its suppliers act in a way that is in harmony with the values of the Company. Where commercially viable Simply Delightful will prioritise those suppliers whose material, ethical and environmental practices are in harmony with our own.
Simply Delightful seeks to develop long term, mutually beneficial relationships with its suppliers. Such relationships can only be effective if suppliers have a mutual respect for the ethical policies and practices of Simply Delightful. Relationships are based on trust and honesty at all times.
Simply Delightful will:
- Seek to buy from local sources, supporting local businesses and reducing transportation costs and environmental impact wherever possible and practical.
- Source suppliers with well established ethical and environmental practices, wherever possible and practical.
- Purchase fair trade products and materials wherever possible and practical.
- Treat suppliers fairly and pay within the agreed terms.
Simply Delightful seeks to avoid association with any supplier which it discovers to be:
- Engaged in unlawful practice
- Engaged in practice which violates basic employee rights
- Discriminating against individuals or groups on the grounds of race, gender, age, nationality, sexual orientation or belief.
Continuous Improvement
Simply Delightful will regularly review its business practices and respond to the views of customers, employees and other stakeholders. It has an ethical policy champion whose role it is to appraise these views and other relevant issues and, if necessary amend this policy and keep it up to date.
Accountability
The Directors of Simply Delightful are ultimately accountable for this ethical policy.
